House Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday removed Mike Turner, the chairman of the powerful House Intelligence Committee, from his position as chairman of the committee.
Ohio Rep. Mike Turner, the Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has been a vocal supporter of the Ukraine aid and has been at odds with President-elect Donald Trump over other issues. Ohio Rep. Mike Turner will not continue to lead the House Intelligence Committee, Speaker Johnson told reporters late Wednesday.
The decision to remove Mr. Turner is because of the need to “reset” the U.S. intelligence community and everything related to the committee, Speaker Johnson said. A new chairman for the House Intelligence Committee will be announced soon, Speaker Johnson said.
